If you build something from a prepackaged set of parts, it's a kit. I don't think the design necessarily matters.<br /><br />By no means do I intend this to denegrate those who build from kits, though - I enjoy building them occasionally, it's a lot of fun and you can learn a great deal if you approach it as something more than an exercise in board stuffing.<br /><br />Of course, there is that unique sense of satisfaction that comes from making Q's with something that you design and build from scratch.
