"Empire of the Air"
Here's the book I've been talking about. Four Solder-stars. Strong on history and biography, but a bit light in the Knack department. Still, strongly recommended.
I've very much enjoyed your thoughts on this great book. What a story! As an engineer and inventor with quite a few patents, Armstrong's lifetime travails with infringers and attackers were a sobering education. I posted on "Empire" when it first came out, way back in the pre-web usenet days: http://groups.google.com/group/rec.radio.shortwave/browse_thread/thread/d6a26e5e008bec1c Lots of good material on the Ken Burns site: http://www.pbs.org/kenburns/empire/ Thanks! 73 de KC7IT
