Rocket-cam!



I liked this video of the launch of NASA's new lunar orbiter.

  1. When watching launch videos, have you ever noticed the popping noises in the roar of the booster? For years I attributed that to acoustic overload of the recording microphone but discovered it has the same sound 'live' after witnessing a launch in person.

    It's interesting that the exhaust plume from the booster is asymetrical. I would've thought it would basically be round, sort of like that of a propane torch.

    Also, I wonder why they jettison the payload faring so soon after launch? I would think they'd want it on until the spacecraft leaves orbit and away from the
    'ortibiting junkyard'.
