  2. Someone built their own version of the SBE-34, it was probably in QSR since it's in at least one of the ARRL SSB Manuals.

I don't know how much it copies, but it has bilateral amplifiers.

The circuitry was used in later ARRL Handbooks as a sample bilateral stage.

I haven't gone back to look, but either the circuit is cleaner than recent example, or the drawing of the schematic is cleaner.

The way the stages are drawn, you actually see how the stage us used in both directions.

  3. If you like Sci-Fi reading, I recommend "Seveneves" by Neal Stephenson.

  4. You mentioned Ham Radio Magazine, which is also my favorite magazine on amateur radio. After having to let go of my also complete collection of the magazine due to bookcase space, I managed to dig up a PDF collection of the magazine and re-hosted it on my PDF hoarding server: http://mirror.thelifeofkenneth.com/lib/ham_radio_magazine/

    The mentioned issue: http://mirror.thelifeofkenneth.com/lib/ham_radio_magazine/Ham%20Radio%20Magazine%201985/11%20November%201985.pdf

  5. Great podcast guys. Regarding the copper board corrosion issue, I have been cleaning and drying my boards then coating them with rosin flux. Once dry they stay sparkly clean and of course accept solder even better.
