My AI QSL Card: Wood Boxes, a D-104, Books, a 'Scope, the EB-63A, Guapo, our Sticker, and a Cup of Coffee!

Inspired by the ZL2BNE card sent to me by VK3HN, and the excellent question from Walter KA4KXX,  I endeavored today to create a QSL card that was sort of like that of OM ZL2BNE.

I kind of like the result:

-- We have the wooden box rigs.  I am working on one of them.  (That happens a lot!)

-- There is a D-104.

-- We see the EB-63 .1kW Linear.

--  There are books on the shelf:  SSDRA, EMRFD and SPRAT in a binder.   And we see a book by Hayward.

-- There is an oscilloscope.

-- There is a nice map of Northern Virginia and my Maidenhead Grid Square.

-- We see Guapo, and a cup of coffee.

-- We also see the SolderSmoke sticker.

Here is how I did this:

I used https://www.canva.com/  You have to select the AI option.  Then I told it I wanted it to look like the ZL2BNE card (I sent them a copy).  At that point you have to start modifying what the AI comes up with.  You have to do this many times until you get it sort of right.

Please send me your results!

  1. Nice job, Bill ! And thanks for the link on how to do your own- will do.
Suggestions: Add some Smoke to that solder iron. A bunch of T50-6's all over the bench with windings. A Soldersmoke DCR with the PTO ? A monitor on the side with the Soldersmoke Video Podcast on the screen.

Your next one: HI7/N2CQR. Looking out from the shack at the outdoors: rooftop Beacon, Antennas, Palm trees, the Mona Passage with Puerto Rico in the distance. I think this one would be more involved, but a sought-after QSL card!

  2. Mike: I showed this QSL to my wife and daughter. They had LOTS of suggestions for improvements: Make the guy look more like you, include a coffee cup, include a Maltese dog. I will work on this. 73 Bill N2CQR

  3. Yes, the dog, definitely the dog! The Maltese puppy should be on your lap, peeking over the bench ? A Soldersmoke Coffee Mug and wear a Soldersmoke T-Shirt. Go for the shameless merch product placement---why not?? That is done on TV all the time.

The HI7/N2CQR QSL could be a piece of art. The (slightly exaggerated) view of the Mona Passage with Puerto Rico in the distance. The beach, too.

I was wondering how much time did it take to make your N2CQR QSL card on Canva?

  4. Mike: The dog is now there, as is the coffee cup. I even uploaded a picture of myself -- my daughter says it now looks more like me, but I am not sure about this. New version is posted here. Total time was less than 30 minutes. 73 Bill N2CQR
