This one is really cool, and reminds us what an intrepid and skilled radio amateur like Helge can do.
I really liked the simple scheme he used to shift frequencies from transmit to receive.
I liked the antenna that he used, and its origns. FB.
Finally I really liked the serendipitous source of the sidetone.
Thank you very much Helge!
Very clever. All of it in an extremely small package!
ReplyDeleteThis should be made "Standard Issue" of the CBLA.
If you encounter problems getting the BFG35 (a 4 GHz BJT , listed as obsolete), try the BCP56. It has a different pinout, but higher breakdown voltage. Now using it on 30 CW , it drives the IRF510's VFB!
He really does a nice job documenting the details

better than the Pixie design. --Walter KA4KXX
His "serendipity" sidetone is similar to the
ReplyDeletetechnique used in my "Merry Christmas Rig"
in the July 2019 issue of the ARCI QRP Quarterly
magazine, and is perhaps the best type of sidetone
one can have, since you are actually listening to your
own signal. --Walter KA4KXX
