  3. Reginald Fessenden was born here in Quebec, a few hour from Montreal (well, nowadays, in his time it likely took longer).

The Brome County Museum has a display about him, since that's where he was born. They even have a "Fessenden Radio Day", I'm not sure if it happens every year or on the same date, but in 2016 it was July 30th.

There is some debate about his first phone broadcast. One thing that occurred to me is that in 1906, the coherer was the common detector, fine for spark, but surely not suitable fir CW, let alone phone. If nothing else, that would limit who could receiver the broadcast.

I don't know why Frank C. Jones name came up a few episodes go, but I'd point out that his VHF book from the early sixties, published by "CQ", is at archive.org, one of those books that fell out of copyright because it wasn't renewed. It's a tube book, except for a few accessories, but us way more recent than his earlier 5metre and VHF books, which are online elsewhere.

  5. Michael: The article in ER said something about the distribution of new detectors to replace the coherers. This apparently took place before the famous proadcast. Bill
