ReplyDeleteVery sad occasion for astronomy. At least with a ground-based telescope it is relatively easy to get a crew there to do the repair. Remember Hubble? I was at JPL at the time the Hubble repair mission was executed. Amazing work.

ReplyDeleteI agree Dean -- this is really sad. We have a ground-based dish built into the terrain. The dish itself doesn't move. Yet somehow we can't keep it from getting damaged? That's pretty bad. Didn't know you were at JPL. We'll have to talk about this someday. 73 Bill
