Eldon KC5U saw my blog posts about Jerry K5JC’s mods to the PLL02 CB rigs.
Here is the mod: http://www.jcoffman.net/WB5RUA/10_meter_AM_conversion_w_Photos.html
Eldon did the mod and we have been trying to make contact. We did so today. It was very cool. I was on my GE rig; Eldon was running a JC Penny! (See video above.) 1054 miles. Thanks Eldon. And thanks Jerry!
FB. With the old CB radios being so inexpensive, I may get one and see what do with the mod and getting on the air.
ReplyDeleteThat GE model was my first CB back in the 1970s. I still have it! May be a good time to try the miod.
ReplyDeleteCB’s are great to convert. I did one with a arduino.

I remember converting CB radios to 10 meters back in the 70s so when Bill posted about doing it, I was eager to try it again. Have been having a ball with it and was elated to make contact with N2CQR. Many of my contacts have been 59 both ways. Bill and I are actually a little to close for typical 10 meter propagation but we stuck with it till we got an opening albeit brief. Thanks Bill.
