We have a winner! 1990 was the year he formed the company. Google's AI says this about MXM:

I like those articles from that era. From 1960's to Y2K. Lots of innovation. Not to say the previous decades were slouches. I kept many IRE and ARRL articles from that time, both in print and scanned. Their "thought process" made full use of their gray matter, no fancy computer simulations we take for granted now. Math skills!
