ReplyDeleteBeing a ham since 1957, tubes were what I used for many rig buildings. My dad 3sk(Canada) later ve3sk, STARTED hamming in 1919, and used spark and rotary tx.
He mentioned they made tubes using double hung filiament lightbulbs. They tried to make the filiament break so as to leave one part of the filiament in tact and the separated part as the grid and wrapped foil around the bulb of to act as a plate.

I love the videos this individual produces!! As a younger ham/homebrewer i'm glad people with the knack pass on their Knacketry in this manner. VERY educational and insures that this knowledge is preserved. 73 De N0ZFG
