SPECIAL CORONA VIRUS EMERGENCY EDITION
We thought it would be nice to put out a special edition of
the podcast to help listeners keep up their morale during this difficult
time. So we’ll do our regular kind of
show, but we’ll try to emphasize things you can do to stay busy and keep up
morale while stuck at home.

--NOVICE RIG ROUNDUP.
NRR. Continues through this
weekend. Lots of fun. Cool rigs worked:
Jon WS1K’s "Scrounger." Greg
AA8V’s 6X2 superhet. And WN4NRR.
-- S-38 MANIA. My
S-38E story. Bought parts. Bought a junker. Fixed the first one then used the parts to
fix the junker. Now I have 2 S-38Es.
-- Got capacitor kit from Hayseed Hamfest. FB.

The S-38E is OK, but in appearance it takes a backseat to the S-38C. The "E" is just a box; the "C" has curves! --Jerry AA6KI
ReplyDeleteJerry: The S-38E has a picture window. And markings that include USSR, Java, Cairo, Congo, Iceland, Angola and Brazil. And the CONELRAD frequencies.
ReplyDeleteJAVA! 73 Bill
You've almost persuaded me! :) I remember how much fun it was in the 1950s to try markings like those on my parents' SW radio. 73.
ReplyDeleteJerry
Other markings: Moscow, Berne, Alaska, Athens, Greenwich, Boston, Rome.
DeleteBut Java is clearly the best. 73 Bill
Bill: Is that your love of coffee speaking?
ReplyDeleteI think the Java attraction comes from the book "Krakatoa, East of Java." And from the movie "Year of Living Dangerously."
ReplyDeleteIs the QSP magazine available online?
