Yesterday I went through my novice logs from 1973-1974. I was in Congers, NY and my call was WN2QHL. Please take a look at the callsigns from my log and let me know if we had a contact. I will then let you have more details from my log.

Bill,
ReplyDeleteI no longer have my log, I checked my stack of QSL's from back then, I was WN1MJW in 1970, by the time you got your novice ticket, I was already Advanced Class WA1MJW. Didn't see my call on your list.
My stack of QSL's from my novice days are one of my prized possessions. Good Luck in your quest!
73,
Dave ex-WA1MJW
Now KF7JAF
Hi there. I actually see my old call sign up there. Too funny.
ReplyDeleteWhat was your old call sign?
DeleteWN1SLG here, this is awesome! was about 14 at the time, other interests took over, no records remain, but great memories!
ReplyDeleteWilly: Excellent! I found you in my logbook.
ReplyDeleteOctober 16, 1975 3:20 pm CW 40 meters You were 599 Mass. Willy. Send me your e-mail and I will send you a picture of the log entry! Thanks gain for the contact! 73 Bill
I was WN3QGA or WA3QGA during that time. While my call doesn’t appear on your list I did see one I know. W3IN was Don McClenon (not sure about spelling of last name) I heard Don often as I lived less than half a mile away and he had three towers in his large yard on Cedar lane in Beltsville, MD. Coincidentally, he lived across the street from my future wife! I just thought it was interesting.
ReplyDeleteI was WN3QGA and WA3QGA during that time and while my call sign doesn’t appear in your list a familiar one does. W3IN was Don McClenon (not sure of spelling of last name) he lived less than a half mile from me on Cedar Lane in Beltsville, MD. I heard him often as he had three large towers with beams in his large yard. Coincidentally my future wife lived across the street from him. Thought that was interesting. 73!
ReplyDeleteI’m on your list … novice days as WN2TPD. Now K7FLI. Not nearly as active as yesteryear … but hoping to change that sooner than later. My old logs are someplace …. buried in the barn under other old crap!
ReplyDeleteWow, great! I found you in my log and will try to send you a picture. 73 Bill N2CQR (aka WN2QHL)
ReplyDeleteI'm in your log as WN4BTL, and I was living in Richmond, VA. Rigs at that time were the Hallicrafters SX-111 and Zenith M660A receivers, and a Heath HX-11 CW transmitter. A blast from the past! The call now is WB4BTL.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is really great! I will look at the paper log when I get back to Virginia later this month. I will let you know if there is any additional info about our QSO.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm there as WN2TBB. Also saw a good friend of mine, WN2EHE. ..Dave KD2E
ReplyDeleteMyself WN2TBB and a good friend WN2EHE, and the guy I took my general with in NYC, WN2SLF, Chas....Wish I could find his whereabouts!!
