I don't care for it - too sterile, no names or calls, no mistakes - sounds like AI to me or two skilled OTR actors working a script really well.

Also: don't get me started on the S-line !
What Chuck KZY said
ReplyDeleteSounds AI generated
ReplyDeleteI know AI is taking over the world but let's just say that I don't think Pete and yourself have anything to worry about! Give me warts and all SolderSmoke any day!
ReplyDeleteUgh!

This would have been more appropriate for posting on the first of April!
ReplyDeleteOn one hand, amazing, on the other hand horrifying.
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't listened to it yet but I wanted to say I am not getting your podcast anymore on my download client Podcast Addict for Android since issue 252.?
ReplyDelete252 is the most recent.
DeleteI suspect that Bill used Google NotebookLM to generate the audio:

I tried it and the resulting audio featured the same artificial couple - they made a lot more mistakes when I tried it.

Thumbs down
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting I think I would like it more with just a single host. The back and forth banter is kind of awkward and not really natural sounding.
ReplyDeleteThe back and forth scripted banter is annoying and distracting.
ReplyDeleteInteresting but I didn't like it. Sounds too clean, vanilla. I tune in to hear you and Pete.
ReplyDeleteI think it's unbelievably good and impressive that you can point software at a blog and get such coherent and intelligent content that so accurately summarises the core themes in 7 minutes of the entire Soldersmoke ethos. Only two years ago this would have been scifi. Of course it's not a replacement for Bill and Pete. But look out, the majority of all media content is going to be done this way, even if it is voiced by humans in front of microphones.
ReplyDeletePaul VK3HN.
Don’t give up the day job, guys :-)
