The Australian government has imposed a radio quiet zone around the SKA which is impacting people and industries in the area. Stories about the SKA always imply that nothing modern happens in the area. This is not true. I was working on a project to develop an iron ore mine with a railway which would have passed through the radio quiet area. The project did not proceed for a number of reasons. The radio quiet zone was one of them.
ReplyDeleteImagine if the US government decided that there could be no radio in Arizona above 50MHz. Do you think that might have an impact on people.
Don't get me wrong I support the SKA, I just think we should be honest and admit that it has impacted the area its located in, in some negative ways.
